Sandburg Men’s Golf 3rd at Kishwaukee as Trio of Chargers Shoot in 70s

Three Chargers shot in the 70s to help the Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team take third at an Arrowhead Conference meet hosted by Kishwaukee on Friday at Fairways Golf Course.
Sandburg was led by Trace White (Mount Pleasant, Iowa/Mount Pleasant), who carded a 1-over-par 73 to place third overall. White’s round was highlighted by a 2-under 34 on the front nine.
Cole Hopping (Vermont, Ill./VIT) closed with a 1-over 37 on the back to post a round of 77, which was good for sixth. Grant Campbell (Earlville, Ill./Earlville) came in at 79 to finish eighth overall. Grant Otting (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) was the Chargers’ fourth scorer with an 83.
An 87 from Cooper Beck (Petersburg, Ill./PORTA) and 88 from Calvin Peterson (Williamsfield, Ill./Williamsfield) were not included in the Chargers’ scoring.
Sandburg’s round of 312 was one shot behind Black Hawk for second place. Illinois Valley shot 306 to take first place. Black Hawk’s Peyton Perez was medalist with a 3-under 69.

Tuesday’s conference meet at Illinois Valley has been postponed because of forecasted inclement weather. A makeup date has yet to be announced. The Chargers’ next scheduled competition is an Arrowhead Conference meet hosted by Sandburg at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake Bracken.
